2014 Oscar’s Laundry: The Brights & The Darks | 3.6.14

Let’s be honest, sometimes we have a smaller load than normal and we mix a couple the darks and the brights. Welcome to today’s post. We are wrapping up our 2014 Oscar’s Review with a mixture of the brights & the darks!

My main girl Sandy wowed in Navy. It’s a versatile shade of blue. If you want to keep it off your walls, throw a spotlight on the deep hue with a sturdy sofa.

J.Law is my spirit animal. And this year at the Academy Awards, she continued her tradition of tripping and looking spectacular. Red is a bold statement. Add a little bit into a space to see if you like the color (as opposed to say, painting the whole room). Sometimes a little bit goes a lot farther.

Olivia Wilde is talented, gorgeous and she makes such a pretty preggo. I love her choice of black and white. It is elegant, simple and sophisticated. Translate this look in to your home by balancing the black & white with warm wood tones in caramel & mahogany,

I’ll be honest, I wasn’t that much of a fan of this dress when I first saw it on TV. And it’s not that much of a stunner in photos. But when Annie walked out on stage, you really got the full effect. This dress is something special and deceptively gorgeous. Punch up a dark spot in your home with some sparkle!

I’ve separated the brights from the lights in this year’s Oscar’s fashion wrap up. And I bring it to you the only way I know, style ala Linzeelu.

Kate Hudson was a vision in a slightly shimmery, drapey dress that looked as effortless as it did flawless. When translating monochromatic into the interior, it’s important to remember to mix it up with texture.

Oscar winner Lupita Nyong’o had a beautiful acceptance speech that bubbled just as bright as her soft, pleated, effervescent dress. Inject some life in your home with color. Choose one that is calm, but bright for some subtle energy & a lot of fun!

Naomi Watts reminds us that sometimes the only thing we need is a little shimmer. Add in some unexpected sparkle for a striking focal point. Think of it as jewelry for your home. Or a fabulous Calvin Klein dress for the Academy Awards.

Celebrate Love! Happy Valentine’s Day | 2.14.14

Don’t give me no crap about hating Valentine’s Day this or Hallmark Holiday that. I don’t want to hear it. Cut that out. Single or attached, male or female, Valentine’s Day is simple: a chance to celebrate love. You don’t have to be in a relationship. You don’t have to buy all sorts of mushy-lovey-dovey junk or shell out big bucks for big blooms. You just need to celebrate the beautiful thing that is LOVE. There is someone in this world that loves you: a spouse, a sibling, a parent, a friend. There is someone in this world that you love: comrade, boo, pet, yourself. Whoever it is, whatever it is, just celebrate it! Love is a beautiful thing and too often it’s taken for granted or allowed to get comfortable. Today is the day to grab it, shake it out, and throw it a party. So just STFU if you’re one of those who thinks you need a boyfriend or a present today. All you need baby, is love.

Buuuut if you do want to grab a little sumthin-sumthin, here’s a few fun ideas (because this is a blog, not ~~just~~ a soapbox).

And we all know a great guy that could use a little reminder of how we think he’s the bee’s knees!

So skip the presents (or not) and celebrate. Send an email or (gasp!) call someone and wish them a Happy Valentine’s Day. Love is a powerful thing. Celebrate it today!
