Happy Spring & happy (almost) Easter! It’s a beautiful time of year to celebrate with the ones we love. I present, for your consideration, a collection of table top ideas for dressing your dining table this weekend (or any day you might fancy this Spring)!

Strike the right chord with a vibrant blend of Spring colors (cobalt & coral, anyone?), and keep it balanced with crisp white and barely-notice-you-but-still-need-you clear.

Clean and simple is always classic. Simple lines in muted earth tones keep things feeling sophisticated and chic.

Inject some whimsy – use an eclectic mix of dishes to play up the fun. Keep it all in the same color family to keep it cohesive.

Go glam with drama – keep the palette simple with basic black and white (with a touch of green of course) but play up height & proportion.

Run with a rustic style – add wood elements (planter boxes or charger plates, etc), vintage or thrifted dishes and plenty of laid back vibes.

Wanderlust 03: Paris | 4.16.14

There are few things I love more in this world than traveling. The sights, the culture, the adventure of it all. It’s thrilling and exhausting and satisfying. But when there is neither time nor money for the biggest dreamed adventures, there’s wanderlust.

03. Paris [in Springtime]

There’s no place in the world I’d rather see and no time of year I’d rather see it. I dream about it all year round, but most of all in the spring. In lieu of seeing it in person, I take inspiration from the sunlight-filtered colors of Spring and the vibrant storefront shades.

I will make it there someday. Until then, I can only dream. And take recommendations! Any can’t miss spots? Favorite cafe or bistro? Must visits?

2014 Oscar’s Laundry: The Brights & The Darks | 3.6.14

Let’s be honest, sometimes we have a smaller load than normal and we mix a couple the darks and the brights. Welcome to today’s post. We are wrapping up our 2014 Oscar’s Review with a mixture of the brights & the darks!

My main girl Sandy wowed in Navy. It’s a versatile shade of blue. If you want to keep it off your walls, throw a spotlight on the deep hue with a sturdy sofa.

J.Law is my spirit animal. And this year at the Academy Awards, she continued her tradition of tripping and looking spectacular. Red is a bold statement. Add a little bit into a space to see if you like the color (as opposed to say, painting the whole room). Sometimes a little bit goes a lot farther.

Olivia Wilde is talented, gorgeous and she makes such a pretty preggo. I love her choice of black and white. It is elegant, simple and sophisticated. Translate this look in to your home by balancing the black & white with warm wood tones in caramel & mahogany,

I’ll be honest, I wasn’t that much of a fan of this dress when I first saw it on TV. And it’s not that much of a stunner in photos. But when Annie walked out on stage, you really got the full effect. This dress is something special and deceptively gorgeous. Punch up a dark spot in your home with some sparkle!

What I’m Watching: True Detective | 3.5.14

Mid week Oscar’s break: Time out from all the glitz and glam for a little bit of grit & suspense! One of my favorite shows on currently is True Detective. It’s intense, brooding, insanely clever and overflowing with visual clues and imagery.

2014 Oscar’s Laundry: The Lights | 3.4.14

I’ve separated the brights from the lights in this year’s Oscar’s fashion wrap up. And I bring it to you the only way I know, style ala Linzeelu.

Kate Hudson was a vision in a slightly shimmery, drapey dress that looked as effortless as it did flawless. When translating monochromatic into the interior, it’s important to remember to mix it up with texture.

Oscar winner Lupita Nyong’o had a beautiful acceptance speech that bubbled just as bright as her soft, pleated, effervescent dress. Inject some life in your home with color. Choose one that is calm, but bright for some subtle energy & a lot of fun!

Naomi Watts reminds us that sometimes the only thing we need is a little shimmer. Add in some unexpected sparkle for a striking focal point. Think of it as jewelry for your home. Or a fabulous Calvin Klein dress for the Academy Awards.

Obsessed: The Olympics | 2.11.14

Well I think the title says it all. I love the olympics, summer & winter. I love the athleticism, the sportsmanship, the pomp & circumstance, I love it all! Every two years, I settle comfortably in my obsession and immerse myself in the games, the rules, the competitors and the host country. True story: just yesterday I wikipedia-ed how to play curling. I read every last word and I am now prepared to watch every last minute. Disgusting, I know. But I LOVE IT!!!!! I don’t expect you to share in my obsession, just enjoy my celebration of said obsession below! Go USA!

Design Files: Dreaming of Spring | 2.5.14

I can’t help it. As another 6-8 inches of snow falls down on me, all I can think about is “it’s February. February is only 4 short weeks. Then it’s March and sometime in March it usually starts to warm up. Soooo… only a few more weeks. Practically there…” This winter has been hell and I have to keep my eye on Spring or I’m going to curl up in the abyss of snow in my backyard and cry.

I feel warmer already.

Is that…. Is that a road clear of salt & snow that I see??

You mean I don’t need 57 layers to go outside??

And just like that, spirits are lifted and I’m happy (and warm). At least until the next time I look out the window….

What I’m Watching: Breaking Bad | 10.17.13

I know, I know. Breaking Bad has ended its run. And what a magnificent run it was. If you haven’t watched the series or aren’t through yet, please watch – it is an incredible show! No spoilers here though – this post is all about the inspiration from the mood, set and the costumes of the show.

Breaking Bad was intense but charming. It was family-centric (in its drug empire kind of way). It had relatable characters who often had to deal with very real consequences for their actions. And being set in the Albuquerque desert town provided some spectacular southwestern scenery!
