Linzeelu’s World: We Bought A House | 1.31.14

Well hello there. It certainly has been quite a long time. I apologize for my absence. Things just got SO CRAZY and the dust is only starting to settle now.

Hubs & I purchased our first house last year and we closed on December 27th. The holidays, a hectic time on their own, were made 1,000,000,000 times more so by us purchasing at this time of year. Holy bananas. We then spent the first few weeks of 2014 packing and scheduling and installing and BUYING. My word. I have never spent so much in so little a time. I could go on and on about how exhausted we are, and how physically, financially and emotionally drained we are, but let me just share our story with you in a few choice images:

Linzeelu's World: We bought a house | Linzeelu Thank You

“ohmygod we did it! after months and months of searching, lots of bumps along the way, one bad realtor experience and finally one great realtor experience, we have purchased our first home!!!” [feelings: excitement, nervous, joy, relief] [editor’s note: this is actually the hubs and I, all other photos were found online and are not us or ours. just fyi.]

Linzeelu's World: We bought a house | Linzeelu Thank You

“so much to pack, which you think might be easy enough, but when you have Obsessive Organizing Behavior (self-diagnosed), it’s a little time consuming….” [feelings: excitement starting to fade to oncoming sense of dread and doom, maybe a dash of melodrama, To Do List growing longer, money starting to fly out the window (literally, there it goes…)]

Linzeelu's World: We bought a house | Linzeelu Thank You

“Happy Holidays! We bought a house and whilst Christmas shopping, wrapping presents, attending holiday parties and trying to stay Merry & Jolly, we are faxing & signing and paying for this and inspecting that and scheduling this and planning for that and oh yeah, trying to stay Merry & Jolly!” [feelings: can’t. breathe. send. help.]

>>>>>Moving Day: One day that though long, went smoothly. Thank you again family!<<<<<

Linzeelu's World: We bought a house | Linzeelu Thank You

“dear god, does this To Do List ever end. unpack, unpack, unpack forever. assemble this, then that (thanks for all the new furniture Ikea!), then assemble this and then that. then unpack and unpack and i swear i put that one thing in this box!” [feelings: overwhelmed, exhausted, drained, i may need an ugly cry, thank you Powers That Be for WINE.]

>>>>>And then one day, the clouds start to part. A ray of sunshine breaks through. We may have weathered the worst part of the storm. The seas start to calm. EXHALE.<<<<<

Linzeelu's World: We bought a house | Linzeelu Thank You

“we have now reached a point in our move-in/unpack where all that’s left is the little stuff. there may be one or 2 more boxes to unpack, and there’s the little issue of trying to figure out where we want to put everything, but things are finally settling down, finally settling into place.” [feelings: relief, tension-releasing, anxiety giving itself over to calm, a feeling of grounding, seeing the light at the end of the tunnel, finally catching our breath, contentment.]

It was a long road to get here. LONG. And though there’s still lots of little things to do left, there’s a feeling that the project is back in hand, manageable once again. I’m so excited to share our journey with you and I will be sharing pictures of our new abode and me flexing my design muscles when the rooms are ready for their big blog debut. In the meantime, I plan to be more active on Linzeelu Thank You once again, now that I have the time to give this guy. I look forward to a fun 2014, both in our new house and on the blog! Hope you’ll be along for the ride as well!

Wishing you a great weekend and a (belated) Happy New Year!

xx,

Linzeelu, Thank You

Happy Anniversary: The Honeymoon | 10.21.13

Happy Monday! Yesterday my hubs and I celebrated our one year wedding anniversary. On Friday I shared some shots from our big day. Today, a few shots from our honeymoon. We started off our trip in Las Vegas for a few days for some gambling and bright lights. We then hopped on a plane and headed to San Francisco! And let me tell you, that place is amazing! We made it a point to see the sights and splurge on some excellent dining. It was a fabulous trip made all the more better by the warm and friendly people of San Fran. We stayed on the wharf, toured Alcatraz, spent a day in Napa and ate like it was going out of style. We were basking in the afterglow of the outpouring of love and support we received at our wedding and it was a trip we’ll never forget!

Happy Anniversary: The Wedding | 10.18.13

It’s been a year. I can’t believe how fast the time has gone by. One year ago (in 2 days), I married the funniest, sweetest, most hardworking sweetie pie I have ever known. We’ve had a fun first year with quite a lot of getaways. As we enter our second year we are working furiously on finding a house. We have been searching since May – SINCE MAY. But I suppose anything worth having is worth waiting for.

In honor of our special day, I wanted to share some shots from the greatest day ever – 10.20.12:

What I’m Watching: Dexter| 10.3.13

I love a lot of different TV shows for a lot of different reasons. Welcome to What I’m Watching; a series that compares the moods & scenes of shows I like with fashion and interior design. Dexter recently wrapped up it’s final season (no spoilers ahead), and I’m sad to see it go, but despite the intense moods, there is such a flavor and spice to the set and wardrobe! It’s bright and colorful and criminal.

Travel Files: Proof on Main | 10.2.13

Last month, I traveled to Nashville with my honey and 2 of our great friends. Along the way we stopped in Louisville and I was completely caught off guard by Proof on Main. The charm of this place creeps up on you as the details slowly reveal themselves – tufted banquettes, exposed brick, industrial elements juxtaposed off warm red light boxes & a flock of paper birds.

Once I got past all the decor, we dove into the menu. There was a list of clever concocted cocktails that did not disappoint. Between the apps and the entrees, we were stuffed to the gils and so very satisfied. The pork chops though. That entree was out-of-this-world delicious.

On your way out, head through the mini art museum attached to the restaurant. There are some beautiful and inspired pieces of contemporary art, and a fun installation for any guys using the men’s restroom 🙂

I highly recommend Proof on Main for any (and every) stop in Louisville! Have you been there? Any other Louisville spots you recommend?

Travel Files: Bottles & Bottega | 9.13.13

Not long ago, I caught up with my gal pal Lisa at a local shop near us, Bottles and Bottega. It’s a charming art stop where you create the piece of the day, sip on some wine and gab with your friends. It’s a great idea for a girl’s night out and ideal for ALL levels of artists! I highly recommend!
