Happy Weekend, Winners | 3.7.14

It’s finally Friday! I promise this is my last Oscar post until 2015’s festivities. I wanted to toss up my favorite looks from past winners and instead of the home comparison, I thought I’d translate the ultra glam, ultra formal looks into something us gals can wear any day! Let’s dive in shall we…

J Law as discussed yesterday is my spirit animal. She charms the pants off me in the most non sexual way possible. I was such a fan of her pink Dior number from 2013 when she won her Best Acting Oscar. But I just don’t see myself wearing this on girl’s night out. So I found an ideally inspired alternate.

Julia Roberts has always been a favorite of mine – since I first saw Pretty Woman as a young girl too young to really get what was going on but old enough to believe in love. I was ecstatic when she won her Oscar for her role in Erin Brokovich and I was in lurve with the vintage Valentino she wore to collect her statue. But, that baby’s not gonna cut it for drinks after work. Here’s another option:

Sandy was a shimmery, sparkly column of stunning when she accepted her Oscar for Best Actress for her role in The Blind Side. But I don’t want to want to wear a full length gown to my birthday party!

And now we’re going way back. I love me some Barbara Streisand and Babs really knocked it out with her sparkly, see-through, onesie, pantsuit. What a doll! Unfortunately, it’s not exactly office appropriate. What would I wear to work instead? I thought you’d never ask. Black power suit for the win.

PS How cool is this?

Now there are a lot more that I am a fan of, but there’s only so much time in my day and so much space on the blog. What are your all time favorite Oscar looks? Or could you give a flying flip? either way, have a great weekend, winner!

xx,

2014 Oscar’s Laundry: The Brights & The Darks | 3.6.14

Let’s be honest, sometimes we have a smaller load than normal and we mix a couple the darks and the brights. Welcome to today’s post. We are wrapping up our 2014 Oscar’s Review with a mixture of the brights & the darks!

My main girl Sandy wowed in Navy. It’s a versatile shade of blue. If you want to keep it off your walls, throw a spotlight on the deep hue with a sturdy sofa.

J.Law is my spirit animal. And this year at the Academy Awards, she continued her tradition of tripping and looking spectacular. Red is a bold statement. Add a little bit into a space to see if you like the color (as opposed to say, painting the whole room). Sometimes a little bit goes a lot farther.

Olivia Wilde is talented, gorgeous and she makes such a pretty preggo. I love her choice of black and white. It is elegant, simple and sophisticated. Translate this look in to your home by balancing the black & white with warm wood tones in caramel & mahogany,

I’ll be honest, I wasn’t that much of a fan of this dress when I first saw it on TV. And it’s not that much of a stunner in photos. But when Annie walked out on stage, you really got the full effect. This dress is something special and deceptively gorgeous. Punch up a dark spot in your home with some sparkle!

So there you have it. I hope you enjoyed my extended version of Fashion To Front Room in honor of Hollywood’s biggest night!

Hang tight – we’re almost to the weekend!

2014 Oscar’s Laundry: The Lights | 3.4.14

I’ve separated the brights from the lights in this year’s Oscar’s fashion wrap up. And I bring it to you the only way I know, style ala Linzeelu.

Kate Hudson was a vision in a slightly shimmery, drapey dress that looked as effortless as it did flawless. When translating monochromatic into the interior, it’s important to remember to mix it up with texture.

Oscar winner Lupita Nyong’o had a beautiful acceptance speech that bubbled just as bright as her soft, pleated, effervescent dress. Inject some life in your home with color. Choose one that is calm, but bright for some subtle energy & a lot of fun!

Naomi Watts reminds us that sometimes the only thing we need is a little shimmer. Add in some unexpected sparkle for a striking focal point. Think of it as jewelry for your home. Or a fabulous Calvin Klein dress for the Academy Awards.

The darks & the brights are coming up later this week! What were your favorite light-hued looks from the 2014 Oscars?

Fashion To Front Room: Oscar’s Redux | 3.3.14

To know me is to love me. And to love me is to accept me and all my quirks. One of my many quirks is my love of the Hollywood award season and there is no show bigger than the Oscars. I am fully aware that it is a room full of privileged people congratulating themselves all night. But I like to consider that a quirk. And to love something is to accept it. (see what I did there….)

In honor of last night’s show, I want to start out my Oscar celebration with a celebration of some of my favorite looks from the past years of the Academy Awards.

I want to start with Michele Williams from 2006. I don’t know the designer because I don’t care, but I will never forget the statement she made in this gorgeous goldenrod. It’s a rich & buttery color, and it sang in the spotlight of the red carpet. Don’t be afraid to put this color on display in your own home!

Penelope Cruz was an absolute stunner in this saccharine tight & fluffy number in 2007. I honestly thought she was a princess. And this was the thought of a 24 year old woman. But can you blame me?

Say what you want about Miss Anne Hathaway (i will say that I LOVE her), but her 2009 column dress of slightly sparkly Ivory awesomeness is a picture of grace and timelessness. And considering that ivory and metallic shine are classic neutrals, it’s a lesson you can take to your wardrobe and your home.

And there’s something to be said about being bold & beautiful in such a simple silhouette. I adore Jen in this red number and I think it’s another testament to the beauty of classic colors/pieces/silhouettes. There’s a reason they’re called classics!

So there you have it. My favorite looks and an idea for how to use it in your home. More Oscar goodies coming up this week, including a celebration of last night’s looks and my favorite Oscar winner looks (as it turns out, no winners in the above list).

Are you a fan of the Oscars?

Full disclosure: I LOVE awards shows. I love the pomp & circumstance. I love the fashion. I love the superfluousness of it all. So we’re celebrating the Emmy’s fashion this week, Linzeelu style. First up, the cream puffs.Emmys13Creampuffs
